About the membership
WHO CAN JOIN FINNISH ART SOCIETY?
Membership of Finnish Art Society is open to all art lovers on payment of the annual membership fee (35 euro in 2020). Children can also be members, but children under 15 do not have a vote. Membership in the art society must be an expression of the person’s own free will, however; for instance, parents cannot register babies as members. Children wishing to become members are so accepted. Child members and voting members (anyone over 15) are treated as equals in the art lottery.
It is also possible to give the membership as a gift, but the membership must be confirmed by the recipient. The membership becomes valid after this confirmation.
WHAT DOES THE MEMBERSHIP INVOLVE?
As a member of Finnish Art Society, you support the Finnish art world, receive information about art, and develop your knowledge of art. You can also win works of contemporary art in the annual lottery.
You can also participate in the art society’s activities, events, exhibitions, lottery and excursions. The art society also organises life drawing sessions on Tuesday nights in Kunsthalle Helsinki. The croquis sessions are open to all.
The art society purchases about a hundred works by Finnish artists annually. The works are raffled among its members in the annual art lottery. Instead of building up a collection of its own, the society circulates the works in the homes of its members.
Free admission to exhibitions organised by the art society everywhere in Finland
Discounted admission to other exhibitions at Kunsthalle Helsinki
Discounted admission to Finnish Art Society’s Croquis Nights and art workshop
The art society’s magazine delivered to the member’s home twice a year (March and November)
Opportunity to subscribe to Taide-magazine with special price
All members are automatically included in the annual art lottery
